Debra Little, is a designer and curator, with a career in interior design and the arts that spans 30 years internationally. She grew up and studied in Adelaide, began her career in Melbourne and then relocated to Hong Kong in 1992, founding her own design firm in 2000, working on projects across Asia, the UK, and Australia.
Her approach focuses on creating strong interior architecture with a careful attention to scale, light and detailing, surface treatment, and the balanced placement of new and old furniture, artwork and objects. She believes in respecting the integrity of the building envelope, while drawing on reference points from the location and different periods and cultures as appropriate to the Client’s individual ethos, style and purpose.
Hand in hand with her consultancy, Debra opened DeeM in 2011, a unique design and art retail space / gallery, representing its own collective of furniture, lighting and objects, the work of other contemporary designers from Europe and the US, and a select group of international artists. The collection was carefully curated, reflecting an eye for detail, an appreciation of fine craft, and a passion for the dialogue between design, craft and art that transcends time.
DeeM Studio is now based in Adelaide, Melbourne and Hong Kong, with design projects across Australia, artist representation, and plans to continue exhibiting a curated edit of artists and designers work in it’s Adelaide gallery and internationally.
